Rylander Elementary School celebrates 20th anniversary

Terrell Tate, student council president at Rylander Elementary, opened the school’s 20th anniversary celebration on April 6th by welcoming parents, students and guests to the event. Joining Tate on stage are (left to right) former principal Cheryl Glasser (2018-2022), former principal Lisa Simmons (2024-2015), former principal Gwen Coffey (2013-2018), current principal Tanya Heard (2022-present, and Fred “Tony” Rylander Jr., son of Roberta Opal Wright Rylander, a former Katy ISD educator for whom the campus is named. Festivities included the opening of the original time capsule which was sealed in 2004 and the preparation of a new time capsule. Rylander Elementary is located at 24831 Westheimer Pkwy. In Katy.
