Two students at The British International School of Houston have been recognized for outstanding academic achievement, the school said in a February 21st press release.

· Outstanding Cambridge Learner Award – Year 12 Fowwaz has received this prestigious award from Cambridge International Education, part of the University of Cambridge, to acknowledge his outstanding performance on the June 2023 Cambridge examinations. The Cambridge awards celebrate the success of students taking Cambridge examinations around the world. Every year, more than a million students in over 160 countries prepare for their future with an education from Cambridge. Fowwaz received the award for gaining the High Achievement Award in the USA for Cambridge IGCSE Computer Science.

· National Merit Finalist - Year 13 Abdul has advanced to Finalist standing in the 2024 National Merit Scholarship Program by demonstrating through distinguished performance high potential for future academic accomplishment. Abdul has demonstrated impressive academic excellence. The National Merit Scholarship Program is a United States academic scholarship competition for recognition and university scholarships. Of the 1.5 million applicants who submitted a PSAT score, there are only 7,250 National Merit Scholarship winners. This means students only have a 0.5% chance of becoming a National Merit Scholar, making this one of the most competitive merit-based scholarships.
