Tompkins boys clinch regional swim title, Jordan girls finish second

Tompkins boys clinch regional swim title, Jordan girls finish second

Tompkins and Jordan had big performances at last weeks regional swim and dive meet, with the Falcons finishing first on the boys side and Jordan claiming a second place finish for the girls.

The Falcons had a big performance and even had their first ever regional swim champion at the event. Carter Gray led the way for the Falcons with his first place finish in the 200-meter individual medley with a time of one minute, 50.58 seconds. Grey clinched the fifth best time in the entire state and will compete in the Class 6A state title for his efforts, joined by five other events for Tompkins. Tompkins also clinched state appearances in the 200-yard medley relay, where they had the 12th best time in the state at one minute, 34.81 seconds, while Tristan Rodriguez is headed to the state meet after clinching the sixth best 1-meter dive in the state, with a score of 489.30, while Tompkins also clinched a spot at state in the 200-yard freestyle, finishing 11th in the state with a time of one minute, 25.98 seconds. Tompkins had two called up as alternatives to state as well, with Logan Solomon clinching a spot in the 100-yard backstroke with a time of 51.11 seconds while Falcons got called up with a 400-yard freestyle relay time of three minutes, 8.74 seconds.

On the girls side, Jordan was the top finisher in Katy ISD, coming in second at the regional meet. The Warriors had seven events advance to the Class 6A Swim and Dive meet. Maria-Jose Leviaguirre Enriquez got to state in the one-meter dive, she had the 16th best dive in the state  with a score of 384.55 points. She was joined by Kaeli White, who had the ninth best time in the state in the 500-yard freestyle with a time of five minutes .46 seconds, the 400-yard freestyle relay from Jordan which had a time of three minutes, 31.5 seconds. The Warriors also had alternates advance. White clinched a second state spot in the 200-yard freestyle with a time of one minute, 50.36 seconds, while Emma Aumaugher made it to state in the 200-yard individual medley with a time of two minutes, 5.19 seconds, Aumaugher also made it in the 100-yard butterfly with a time of 55.81 seconds while the Jordan 200-yard freestyle relay clinched a spot at state with a time of one minute, 38.56 seconds.

Along with the strong finishers, Seven Lakes head coach Jordan Beck was named the co-head coach of the meet on the boys side.
