Tompkins boys, Jordan girls take home District 19-6A swim and dive titles

Posted

The Tompkins boys team and the Jordan girls team finished with golds on Saturday at the District 19-6A meet, finishing as top dogs in the district and advancing a number of athletes to regionals.

It was the second straight year for both teams to win district titles, as the Falcons won a District 19-6A title last year and Jordan won the District 19-5A title last year, moving up and winning the district title this season in their first season in 6A.

Along with winning the meet as a team, Jordan added an individual award to their resume as well, as Emma Aumagher was selected as the girls athlete of the meet after setting a district record in the 200-yard individual medley and also winning the 100-yard butterfly.

Taylor’s Logan Pack was named the boys swimmer of the meet for the second straight season after winning and breaking district records in both the 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke.

Jordan head coach Scott Slay and Tompkins head coach Kate Sweeso were named the coaches of the meet after Slay led the Warriors girls to a district championship and Sweeso led the Tompkins boys to a district gold

The top six finishers in each swimming event advanced to the Region V-6A swim and dive meet, while the top three divers from the 1-meter dive advanced.

Following are the regional qualifiers from the District 19-6A swim meet.
