It was a big day last week at the District 19-6A track meet, as the Tompkins boys clinched their fourth straight district title and the Katy girls clinched a district title as well.

Tompkins boys win fourth straight district championship, Katy clinches girls district title

It was a big day last week at the District 19-6A track meet, as the Tompkins boys clinched their fourth straight district title and the Katy girls clinched a district title as well.

On the boys side, Tompkins had a big day in a number of events, Jhase McMillan won the district title in the 200-meter dash with a time of 21.30 seconds, while Griffen Saacke won the 3200 meter run with a time of nine minutes, 12.01 seconds. Jayden Keys won the 110-meter hurdles with a time of 13.44 seconds while coming in second in the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.26 seconds, also winning the long jump with a jump, while Etoro Bassey won the high jump. Tompkins also won the 400-meter relay with a time of 40.35 seconds and the 800-meter relay with a time of one minute, 24.22 seconds.

Cinco Ranch’s Kevin Bello won the 100-meter dash with a time of 10.30 seconds and the 400-meter dash with a time of 46.49 seconds. Cinco’s Ryan Du Plessis took first in the 800-meter run with a time of one minute, 56.07 seconds and Matthew Montgomery of Seven Lakes won the 1600-meter run with a time of four minutes, 22.01 seconds. Jordan’s James Ledbetter won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 37.26 seconds and Katy won the 1600 meter relay with a time of three minutes, 22.54 seconds. Paetow’s Jackson Farrar won the triple jump and Seven Lakes’ Robert Austin won the pole vault. Paetow’s Joseph Otu Ugwu won the discus and Katy’s Adam Carter won the shot put.

On the girls side it was a huge day for Katy as the Tigers clinched the district title. London Jackson Bray won the 100-meter dash with a time of 11.19 seconds and the 200-meter dash with a time of 24.75 seconds. Elizabeth Brooks won the 400-meter dash with a time of 56.78 seconds and she also won the 800-meter dash with a time of two minutes, 15.85 seconds. Kahaira Crawford won the 300-meter hurdles with a time of 45.78 seconds and Katy took first in the 1600-meter rely with a time of three minutes, 55.21 seconds. Lyric Cheeks joined her teammates on the gold medal stand by winning the triple jump, capping off the first place finishers for Katy.

Tompkins’ Rowan Saacke came in first in the 1600-meter run with a time of five minutes, 1.43 seconds and she also won the 3200-meter run with a time of 10 minutes, 43.09 seconds and Tompkins’ Tylah Lake took first in the 100-meter hurdles with a time of 14.90 seconds. Paetow won the 400-meter relay with a time of 46.32 seconds and Taylor won the 800-meter relay with a time of one minute, 39.47 seconds. Seven Lakes’ Madison Carlton won the high jump while Seven Lakes’ Carla Angueira-Colombani won the long jump. Cinco Ranch’s Breeana Borresen won the pole vault with a jump of 12 feet and was joined by Angueira-Colombani and Cinco Ranch’s Kayla Byrd who also jumped 12 feet. Seven Lakes’ Heather Thayer won the discus and Seven Lakes’ Janey Campbell won the shot put.

The regional track meet will be held April 19 at Turner Stadium.

Katy ISD, District 19-6A, Katy, Tompkins, sports, track and field
