Amid smiles, thanks and well wishes, more than 150 area dignitaries, brain health experts and community members gathered on September 10 to dedicate and open Amazing Place’s second campus, Amazing Place West, in Katy at 621 Circle deMatel in Houston, near the intersection of S. Fry and Kingsland.
For almost 30 years, the nonprofit Amazing Place has empowered families facing the challenges of dementia and advanced brain health for all. The new campus offers offer care programs for those diagnosed with mild to moderate dementia, free resources, support and education for dementia caregivers, as well as classes and presentations for individuals and groups interested in brain health, memory preservation and aging well at little to no cost.
The morning began with Amazing Place Board President Cathy Stubbs welcoming the more than 150 guests who gathered for the dedication ceremony and with The Rev. Tom Pace from St. Luke’s United Methodist, providing a bit of history and an invocation before turning it over to Amazing Place leadership for brief remarks. Katy Mayor William H. “Dusty” Thiele and Katy Mayor Pro Tem Chris Harris, as well as leaders from the Katy Chamber of Commerce and Katy Economic Development Council participated in the formal ribbon cutting to officially open the campus.
“Amazing Place West is a testament to years of vision, hard work, and faith from so many of our supporters over the last several years,” said Amazing Place Executive Director Tracey Brown. “Along with our leadership, the Katy and west Houston communities have been phenomenal with their gifts of time, money and treasure enabling us to open a second campus and double the number of people we serve. This support means everything to the families and individuals we work with. We are blessed indeed.”
In the afternoon, an open house of the campus, designed by RED Studios and constructed
by Mission Contractors, provided a showcase for the public to tour the 19,000 square-foot
campus and visit with Amazing Place dementia and brain health experts. The building

covered pavilion, a library, a club room, a nondenominational chapel, a health
services suite as well as conference spaces and administrative offices.
