Katy ISD is preparing to welcome students for the 2026 – 2027 school year as New Student Registration, for first-time Katy ISD students or those returning to Katy ISD reopened through PowerSchool on July 24.
Families new to Katy ISD, or those returning after withdrawing from the district, can complete registration online through the district's PowerSchool enrollment system. Returning families are invited, through scheduled emails beginning July 27, to complete the Annual Student Enrollment Update to verify and update student and emergency contact information.
Beginning in fall 2026, Katy ISD will offer High School Limited Open Enrollment. Through the Katy ISD High School Limited Open Enrollment transfer process, high school students living outside of Katy ISD may apply to attend a designated high school campus associated with their Extended Attendance Zone (EAZ). Students will select from the approved campus options associated with their current school district, rather than choosing among all Katy ISD high schools. The new High School Limited Open Enrollment program provides students with a wide range of opportunities to enroll in Katy ISD and be part of the Legacy. Families across Texas may also enroll now in Legacy Virtual High School (LVHS) by visiting https://www.katyisd.org/news-details/~board/news-headlines-katy-independent-school-district-100/post/legacy-virtual-high-school-katy-isd-quality-with-texas-sized-options.The program is Katy ISD's statewide virtual high school, which offers full-time and supplemental online learning opportunities designed to prepare students for college, careers and beyond. Registration is available for families seeking a credentialed, high-quality, online Katy ISD option for high school students from anywhere in the state of Texas.
PowerSchool provides a convenient online process that helps families complete enrollment and ensures campuses have accurate information to prepare for the new school year.
To register a new student, families should be prepared to provide:
· Proof of residence
· Student's official birth certificate
· Student's Social Security card
· Parent or guardian's government-issued photo identification
· Student's immunization records
· Report card or transcript from the student's most recent school.
Students entering Prekindergarten, kindergarten and first grade must also meet Texas age eligibility requirements.
For students who were in Katy ISD at the end of last school year, Annual Student Enrollment Update opens with specific emails to families beginning the week of July 27 to update annual information. Families can begin the registration process and learn more by visiting the Katy ISD registration webpage at tps://www.katyisd.org/registration/registration-general-requirements.
