BIS Houston students exemplify holiday spirit through service and giving

This holiday season, students at the British International School Houston (BIS Houston) have exemplified the power of community action and service, raising over $25,000 for a variety of impactful outreach projects. Through their efforts, students have contributed to numerous causes, including UNICEF, The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program, the Tanzania service expedition, the Charity Book and Houston Food Bank Drives, and the Trick-or-Treat for UNICEF fundraiser. In doing so, they have showcased the core values of BIS Houston: leadership, compassion, and a commitment to global citizenship, according to a press release from the school.

At BIS Houston, located at 2203 N. Westgreen Blvd. in Katy, community engagement is a central component of the school’s mission to develop well-rounded individuals. Students actively embrace opportunities to give back, making a tangible difference both locally and globally. Their dedication to service projects highlights the importance of academic achievement as well as the ability to open doors and walk through them to thrive—and to help others thrive in the process.

This holiday season’s fundraising initiatives underscore the powerful role that students play in creating positive change. “By working alongside organizations like UNICEF and The Salvation Army, and organizing local food and book drives, they have shown that even young people can be powerful agents of change,” said a spokesperson for the school in a December press release.

A standout initiative this year was BIS Houston's record-breaking blood drive with the Gulf Coast Regional Blood Center. The students’ efforts resulted in 44 donors, 47 donations, and potentially saved 132 lives. This endeavor began benefiting hospitals from Thanksgiving Day.
