Brazos River Rotary, Fulshear Simonton Lions honor vets at annual breakfast
Dex Davis, Director of Support and Giving at PTSD Foundation of America which operates Camp Hope and its veterans outreach programs, speaks at the November 7 breakfast honoring local veterans, hosted by the Brazos River Rotary and Fulshear Simonton Lions Clubs at Weston Lakes Country Club, 32611 FM 1093 in Fulshear. Davis described Camp Hope’s free programs designed to help veterans recover from the “scars of war,” and outlined the organization’s future plans, which include adding a “Camp Faith” campus for female veterans, expanding family coordinators, and adding programs specifically for first responders, many of whom are veterans, he said.

Maggie Peterson, founder and CEO of Camp SHiEld, a 501(c)3 organization that nurtures women veterans emotionally, socially and physically following their military service, describes the unique challenges faced by female veterans during a presentation at the annual veterans breakfast hosted by the Brazos River Rotary and Fulshear Simonton Lions Clubs at Weston Lakes Country Club, 32611 FM 1093 in Fulshear. Peterson hopes to build a permanent facility to serve female veterans.

Local veterans from all branches of military service were honored at the annual veterans’ breakfast hosted by the Brazos River Rotary and Fulshear Simonton Lions Clubs at Weston Lakes Country Club, 32611 FM 1093 in Fulshear, on November 7. The capacity crowd heard from keynote speakers Dex Davis, Director of Support and Giving at PTSD Foundation of America which operates Camp Hope and its veterans outreach programs, and Maggie Peterson, founder and CEO of Camp SHiEld, a 501(c)3 organization that nurtures women veterans emotionally, socially and physically following their military service.
