The British International School of Houston is proud to celebrate two outstanding students from the Class of 2026 who have been named National Merit Scholars, the private school said in a May 26 press release. Selected from more than 1.6 million students nationwide, Sergio and Manuel have earned one of the most prestigious academic distinctions in the United States, recognising exceptional academic achievement at the highest level.
:This remarkable accomplishment reflects not only their dedication and ambition, but also the strength of the school’s academic program and commitment to supporting every student to reach their full potential,” the release said.
Sergio will continue his academic journey at Johns Hopkins University, while Manuel will attend Rice University. Both destinations are among the most respected institutions in the world, underscoring the caliber of students graduating from the British International School of Houston each year.
commented: “We are incredibly proud of Sergio and Manuel. Being named National Merit Scholars is an exceptional achievement that reflects years of hard work, intellectual curiosity, and perseverance,” BIS Principal Barrie Scrymgeour said. “They are valued members of our global family, and we are excited to see all they will accomplish in the future.”
At the British International School of Houston, academic excellence is paired with a personalised approach to learning. Every student benefits from tailored support and world-class teaching, ensuring they are challenged, inspired, and equipped with the skills they need for success beyond school. Achievements such as these highlight the impact of a learning environment where students are encouraged to think critically, act creatively, and aim high, the school said.
