Citizens for Animal Protection (CAP) announced the success of The CAP Cornelius Clinic’s recent Community/Feral Cat Day, a free service event dedicated to reducing pet overpopulation and supporting local caregivers of outdoor cat colonies. The event took place on November 19.
During the event, clinic staff and volunteers spayed and neutered 36 community
cats—17 males and 19 females—at no cost to the public. Every cat also received a
free rabies vaccination, ensuring they returned to their communities healthier and
protected.
“Our team is committed to providing high-quality veterinary care to the animals who
need it most,” said Jared Carroll, Clinic Manager of The CAP Cornelius Clinic. “Offering
no-cost spay/neuter services and vaccinations for community cats is an important step
in reducing overpopulation and improving overall public health. We are proud of the
impact this event has made and look forward to continuing to expand these essential
services.”
The event also highlighted CAP’s long-standing commitment to serving the greater
Houston community.
“Community cats belong to all of us, and caring for them is truly a shared responsibility,”
said Sandi Mercado, Executive Director at Citizens for Animal Protection. “Seeing
neighbors, volunteers, and our clinic team come together for the well-being of these
cats is incredibly inspiring. We’re grateful to play a role in supporting the people who
look after them and in building a healthier, more compassionate community.”
CAP plans to offer additional Community/Feral Cat Days in the future to meet the
continued need for accessible spay/neuter and vaccination services.
Citizens for Animal Protection extends heartfelt thanks to the dedicated veterinary staff,
volunteers, and community members who made this event possible.
