Christian Bros. Automotive celebrates Masters with team-building mini-golf tournament

On April 8, the corporate headquarters of Christian Brother Automotive at 17725 Katy Freeway #200 in Houston near Katy, was transformed from an ordinary office into a miniature nine-hole golf course.

What started 15 years ago by President and CEO Donnie Carr as a simple team-building activity has grown into a full-scale tradition that brings the entire company together. This year featured nine fully themed holes built by cross-department teams, each more elaborate than the last—from a “Stranger Things”-inspired hole complete with a six-foot Demogorgon (3D printed and hand-painted), Eggo-themed details and immersive set design, to a Christmas course decked out with trees, lights and Santa’s chair.

Other highlights included a Mexican fiesta hole that transported players straight to Mexico, a balloon-filled “Joy” theme, a Masters-inspired hole with paper mâché azaleas and trees, a homemade bridge and classic tournament fare, a “Cars”-themed course with a custom-built vehicle and working stoplights, and a nostalgic cereal hole featuring dozens of boxes, looping vintage commercials and oversized “Froot Loops” made from pool noodles.

About 190 employees participated in the event, vying for the coveted green jacket, a bobble-head made in their likeness and bragging rights for the next year, when the winner will be honored and allowed to choose the menu for the catered meal served at the event.

In an interview with the Katy Times, Chief Development officer Michael Suttle shared great perspective on how the tradition has evolved over the years and how it reinforces the company’s core value to “Love Your Neighbor.”

“Beyond the creativity, the event continues to reflect CBA’s people-first culture by bringing employees, families and leadership together through friendly competition and shared experience,” a company spokesperson told the Katy Times following the event.
