Cinco’s Baird finishes sixth in long snapper competition
Thomas Baird, a 6-foot-1, 190-pound junior from Cinco Ranch High School in Katy, finished sixth in the camp's RSI performance rankings with a score of 25.26 at the Rubio Long Snapping Fall Camp at LD Bell High School in Hurst on October 25. Rubio Long Snapping, founded by Chris Rubio, runs long snapping camps nationwide and selects the long snappers for the Navy All-American Bowl and the Polynesian Bowl. The long snapper (or deep snapper) is a center on special teams whose duty is to snap the football over a longer distance, typically around 15 yards during punts, and seven to eight yards during field goals and conversion attempts.
