Katy ISD board approves attendance boundary Modifications for 2027-2028, opens naming nominations for Elementary #49

During the October 26 Regular Board meeting, Katy ISD Trustees approved attendance boundary modifications (ABM) that included the district’s new Elementary #49 in the district’s fast growth northwest quadrant.

Slated to open in fall 2027, Elementary #49 is part of the voter-approved 2023 Katy ISD Bond. The approved attendance boundaries will shift designated areas currently zoned to Youngblood Elementary to the new campus, creating additional capacity at both schools. The plan also includes minor boundary adjustments at several existing campuses on the central and eastern sides of the district to better balance student enrollment.

The boundary modifications were informed by data from the district’s demographer, Population and Survey Analysts, campus principals, administrators and parent feedback.

“As our district evolves, we remain focused on what matters most: our students and families,” Board President Lance Redmon said. “These targeted boundary adjustments will help balance enrollment at several existing schools and establish attendance zones for the opening of Elementary School #49. We look forward to engaging our community in naming the new school and creating a welcoming place where students can learn, grow and thrive.”

Other campuses that saw minor adjustments as a result of this ABM include Wolfe Elementary, West Memorial Elementary, Mayde Creek Junior High, Katy High School and Cinco Ranch High School.

In a separate action, the board approved forming a Naming Advisory Committee for Elementary #49, inviting community members to help shape the identity of the district's newest campus.

Community members interested in nominating a name to represent the district’s newest elementary school, located at 6435 Pitts Rd, in Katy, were encouraged to submit names for consideration. The deadline for nominations was November 4.
