Katy’s city council met briefly for less than half an hour on October 27, approving contracts and several other routine matters.

Museum Coordinator Josh Garland introduced Taylor High School student Emma Suwan who was recognized as the 2025 Rice Harvest Festival Art contest winner for her painting titled “You’ll Love Katy – Just Like Us!” Suwan will donate the piece to the Katy Heritage Museum, Garland said. Suwan received a special letter of recognition from the city, presented by Garland and Mayor Dusty Thiele.

Council approved a resolution authorizing the issuance of tax road bonds up to $2,365,000.00 by Fort Bend County MUD No. 199 for Katy Main Street.

In other action, proclamations were read by Thiele and Councilmember Janet Corte establishing November 1 as “America Recycles Day” and November 7 as Texas Arbor Day in Katy.

The next meeting of Katy’s city council will be held November 10 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 901 Avenue C in Katy.
