Another mobility and drainage improvement project is now underway in the rapidly-growing northwest quadrant of the greater Katy area.
Construction started in May 2026 on a $1.162 million project which will widen Peek Road north of the Grand Parkway to within about 600 feet south of Clay Road. The project will convert the existing two-lane roadway to a four-lane boulevard roadway section. The expansion includes installing additional curb inlets in the southbound lanes to improve drainage, designed to meet Atlas 14 100-year storm event criteria.
The estimated completion date for the project is January 2027, a spokesperson for Harris County Precinct 4 said in a September 2 email to the Katy Times.
The project will complete the boulevard segment of Peek Road, improve traffic flow, and improve drainage through the installation of additional inlets, the spokesperson said.
Precinct 4 proactively coordinated with utility owners, prior to construction starting, to help minimize potential utility impacts, the spokesperson said. “At this point, we do not anticipate delays from CenterPoint or other utility owners,” she said.
Although the Katy Times asked about the possible installation of a traffic signal at the intersection of Peek Road and Peek Ridge Road, precinct officials did not respond to that question.
The portion of Peek Road north of Clay Road – specifically, from Stockdick School Road to Beckendorff Road – is currently in the planning and design phase, officials said.
