The City of Katy’s city council met briefly on August 10 and, via consent agenda, approved the schedule of street closures for events to be hosted by the city in 2027 at the historic downtown square.
Katy Exchange events are scheduled for March 27, April 24, May 22, June 26, August 28, November 13 and December 4.
Other signature events to be hosted by the city are set for March 13, April 10, May 8, June 12, August 7, September 18, and November 6.
In other action, council unanimously approved:
· An annual price adjustment for waste disposal company Texas Pride. Councilmember Paula Taylor said that the increase came to 81 cents per month for residents and that, per the contract amendment, future rate increases would be tied to the National Consumer Price Index.
· A special use permit for a property at 5458 Roberts Road, for use by First Baptist Church of Katy. The 1.33-acre site is a former auto shop.
· Appointments of Rebecca Suzanne Follis to the Convention and Tourism Bureau; and Adrienne Davitz, Myra Kay Jones, Marilyn Frishman and Jerrilyn Rheman to the Katy Heritage Park Board.
The next meeting of city council will be August 24 at 6:30 p.m. at City Hall, 901 Avenue C in Katy.
