CPC hosts goats at Williams Prairie as strategy to combat invasive species
The Coastal Prairie Conservancy is battling invasive species on the prairie the old-fashioned way – with goats. The organization just brought 150 goats to one of the conservancy's preserves, Williams Prairie, which is located at 32510 Hepplewhite Dr., Brookshire This 11-acre permanently-protected preserve is in the middle of the Brookshire suburbs, creating a very cool visual contrast. The goats were there for one week helping to eat invasive species and to clear brush. CPC also hosted a goat grazing workshop on April 16 called Bagels & Bleats. as part of its Earth Month programming. The event offered a unique opportunity to see goat grazing in action and included educational demonstrations, along with coffee and bagels for attendees.
