Laura Richard, the Fort Bend County Clerk, announced on June 17 that her office would hold special summer weekend hours for the issuance of birth certificates. On Saturday, July 19, the Richmond County Clerk office located in the Travis Building at 301 Jackson Street, will be open to the public from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m.
This Saturday opening is designed to provide a convenient option for residents who may be unable to visit during regular weekday business hours, according to a press release from the department.
“We understand that many families and working individuals have busy schedules, especially during the summer months,” said Richard. “By offering special Saturday hours, we hope to make it a little easier for people to get the vital records they need without having to take time off work or rearrange weekday commitments.”
The County Clerk’s Office encourages residents to take advantage of this opportunity to obtain birth certificates for school enrollment, travel, identification, or other important needs. Additionally, clerks will be available to record Veteran discharge paperwork and issue the County Clerk’s Thank-A-Veteran program ID cards.
No appointments are necessary, and walk-ins are welcome during these special Saturday hours. Visit www.fbctx.gov/birthcerts and www.fbctx.gov/countyclerk prior to visiting the office to view the complete list of valid identifications required, information for qualified applicants, and service fees.
