Harmony Public Schools is among the elite group of educational institutions recognized by the Texas Association of School Business Officials (TASBO) with the prestigious Award of Excellence in Financial Management, the charter school system announced in a March 3 press release.

Established in 2020, the award is given to Texas school districts, open-enrollment charter schools, and education service centers that demonstrate professional standards, best practices, and innovations in the area of financial management and reporting. The criteria to qualify for the Award of Excellence in Financial Management is stringent, based on financial accounting and reporting guidelines identified by the Texas Education Agency (TEA) Financial Accountability System Resource Guide (FASRG), the press release said. Applicants must submit documents across 11 key areas, which are then reviewed by a TASBO accounting subcommittee. For 2026, Harmony is one of only 34 recipients across Texas for the Excellence in Financial Management award and one of only 84 recipients for the Purchasing award.

“As Harmony continues to grow and serve communities across Texas, strong financial oversight remains foundational to our long-term sustainability," said Harmony Public Schools CEO Fatih Ay. "These recognitions from TASBO underscores our commitment to fiscal responsibility, operational excellence, and transparent governance. We are proud of the systems and people who make this level of stewardship possible.”

Harmony's curriculum places a heavy focus on STEM skills, Character Education, project-based learning and college readiness. The system has a 98 percent graduation rate for its high school seniors, and 100 percent college acceptance rate among its graduating seniors, the press release said.
