Harris Co. Precinct 4’s Phase 2 of ‘Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4’ now underway in NE Katy

The Office of Commissioner Lesley Briones has begun construction on four miles of new sidewalks along Greenhouse Rd—from Kieth Harrow Blvd. to Morton Rd., Harris County Precinct 4 announced in a November 10 post on its Facebook page.

“These improvements aren’t just about convenience—they’re about public safety,” the post said. “Safer sidewalks mean fewer people walking in the street and more secure routes for students, families, and neighbors traveling between Cypress Lakes and Mayde Creek High Schools.”

In a commitment to walkability, accessibility, and neighborhood safety, Commissioner Lesley Briones and the Precinct 4 team are continuing Phase 2 of Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4. Phase 1 of the program, which began in 2024, added 50 miles of new sidewalks throughout Precinct 4 in just one year.

Sidewalks 4 Precinct 4 utilizes data-driven analysis to identify sidewalk gaps and prioritize areas with the greatest need, ensuring that investments directly improve residents’ daily lives.

With a $20 million investment in 2024-2025 and $16 million in 2025-2026, the program is connecting families to schools, parks, hospitals, transit stops, places of worship, and shopping centers — essential destinations for a thriving community, according to the precinct’s website.

Construction is rolled out in phases, with each sidewalk segment taking approximately four to eight weeks to complete. Multiple crews work across the precinct to accelerate progress, according to the website.
