The Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, in partnership with the City of Katy, has announced the unveiling of the first twelve Hometown Heroes Banners along George Bush Drive. The public is invited to join the ceremony on Saturday, November 1, at 8 a.m.
The unveiling will begin at VFW Post 9182, 6202 George Bush Drive, Katy, where community members, families, and local leaders will gather to honor the first group of Katy’s heroes recognized through this meaningful new community program. Following a brief welcome, attendees will walk together along George Bush Drive to view each of the installed banners, celebrating the local servicemen and women who have bravely served our nation.
Members of VFW Post 9182 and the American Legion Post 164 will be present, joined by their Honor Guard, who will provide a ceremonial presence to pay tribute to the heroes featured on the banners.
After the walk, the group will reconvene at the VFW Hall for a time of reflection, fellowship, and light breakfast bites.
The Hometown Heroes Banner Program is a collaborative initiative between the City of Katy and the Katy Area Chamber of Commerce, designed to recognize and honor local veterans, active-duty service members, and their families. Each banner proudly displays the name, photograph, and branch of service of a local hero, serving as a lasting reminder of their dedication and sacrifice.
“This program is a powerful way to visually express our community’s deep gratitude for those who have served,” said Adrienne Davitz of the Katy Area Chamber. “We’re proud to stand alongside the City of Katy, our veterans’ organizations, and local families to celebrate the legacy of service that defines our community.”
