Katy ISD celebrates 40th annual Folk Life Festival commemorating pioneer life
The Kenneth D. Welch Outdoor Learning Center (OLC) came alive on April 11 for the 40th Annual Folk Life Festival. At the site located next to Katy High School at 6331 Highway Blvd. in Katy, community members joined with Native American dancers in a traditional round dance. Visitors were also able to take part in other hands-on activities, living history demonstrations and pioneer traditions from across Texas, exploring blacksmithing and traditional farming skills, along with interactive science and nature exhibits, trails and pond exploration throughout the day.
