Come meet some of the first responders who keep the City of Katy safe, during “National Night Out” on October 7 from 5 to 8 p.m. at Katy City Park, 5850 Franz Road in Katy
National Night Out gives Katy PD officers and staff the chance to connect with the community outside of enforcement roles. “Sharing a meal, engaging in activities, and having conversations in a casual, friendly setting helps strengthen trust and create lasting positive relationships between officers and residents,” said a department spokesperson in an email to the Katy Times. “Ultimately, it’s about celebrating the strength and unity of Katy. By hosting this annual event, Katy PD demonstrates its commitment not just to protecting the community, but also to being part of it.:
The free, family-friendly event will feature “meet and greets” with officers, K-9s, special units, 911 dispatchers, and animal control. Enjoy food – including popcorn and snow cones -- and free giveaways, safety information and resources. There will also be face-painting, a balloon artist and other activities, along with local vendors.
The popular event draws 300 to 400 people each year, the department said. For more information, email kpd@katypd.com.
