Katy ISD will “Open the Door to Celebration” at the Merrell Center, 6801 S. Stadium Lane in Katy, on May 1, as the district hosts its annual salute to its “Volunteers in Public Schools.” The breakfast event, which is free to the VIPS members, will be from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and will feature keynote speaker Anne Neeson, Executive Vice President and CEO of the Memorial Hermann Foundation.

“The Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) Celebration salutes the time and talents of thousands of incredible volunteers who make up the heartbeat of our Partners in Education programs,” the department said on the district’s website. “Their contributions to our schools help make Katy ISD a sought-after school district not only for academic excellence but also for the enormous support from our parents' volunteers and community.”

“Whether you volunteered a few hours or many, all Katy ISD Volunteers are invited,” the district said.
