Legacy tree
On October 20, Keep Katy Beautiful presented a Legacy Tree Plaque to the Katy Heritage Park Board, in recognition of a 100-year-old live oak located at the park at 5990 George Bush Drive in Katy. Two of the original members of Keep Katy Beautiful – Jamie Wolman and Sandy Schmidt --were on-hand for the ceremony, along with City of Katy Mayor Dusty Thiele and Mayor Pro Tem Chris Harris. This award is given to Katy businesses that have taken pride in their landscaping, trees and/or building renovation. Recognition of Katy’s iconic, historic and outstanding trees is based on age, size, species, quality, historic association and/or landmark importance.
