Long-time KISD trustee Rebecca Fox announces plans to step down in Oct.

Just before the end of the Katy ISD board of trustees meeting on July 27, board Vice President Rebecca Fox announced that she would be stepping down from her position in mid-October. Fox plans to relocate to the Dallas area to be near her daughter and grandchildren, she told the Katy Times.

“My goal has always been to do what’s best for Katy ISD’s success and this gives the board and community time to make a plan and prepare for the future,” Fox said in a Facebook post on July 28. “I will be leaving in mid-October after I complete some commitments I made to Katy ISD new trustees and the state board I serve on. Katy ISD is in good hands. The relief and hope we all feel with the strong leadership on the board gives me the confidence to make this decision.”

Fox served on the Katy ISD Board of Trustees from 2004–2019 and returned to the board in 2021. During her time as trustee, she helped establish the vision for the Katy ISD Education Foundation and was among its first investors. She is also a graduate of Leadership TASB, earning the designation of Master Trustee, and is an active member of the School Board Advocacy Network.

Fox was reelected in October 2025 to the Texas Association of School Boards (TASB) Board of Directors for a three-year term, representing Region 4, Position E.

Beyond her service as a trustee, Fox has a long history of volunteering for Katy ISD and her community. She has served on multiple PTA boards, district committees and the Executive Board of Volunteers in Public Schools. She contributed time to Keep Encouraging Youth towards Success (KEYS) mentoring, Junior Achievement, Promise-to-Read and other campus programs. Fox’s involvement in the local Katy community also includes the National Charity League-Star Chapter, Pregnancy Help Center and RaiseUp Families.

As of press time for this edition of the Katy Times, Katy ISD had not announced plans to replace Fox on the board.
