Art Class for Kids with Frida Kahlo, ages K-12th grade
Express Children's Theatre presents An Art Class for Kids with Frida Kahlo, commissioned
by Rothko Chapel, on Friday, September 11, at 4:30 p.m. Through a fun, time-bending
adventure, the legendary artist Frida Kahlo travels from 1940’s Mexico to teach a creative art
class. Participants will learn about Frida's life and artistic style while creating their own self -
portraits using crayons and colored pencils.
Diamond Dots for Adults
Join us on September 14, at 6 p.m. as we mindlessly tap away with colored rhinestones
to make our groovy designed bookmarks sparkle. Registration is required for this event, and
seating is limited.
Game Day for Teens and Tweens
Youth grades 4 to 12 come play all the games at Maud Marks on Game Day. Tabletop games
and Switch games will be out and ready. Snacks are provided. Tuesday, September 15, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Laser Cutter Orientation
This orientation session on Friday, September 18, 4 to 6 p.m. will instruct participants on how
to use the laser cutter in the library. Those completing the class will then be able to schedule time
to use the laser cutters at HCPL branches and MakerCentral, at which time they will complete a
short machine-specific orientation at the location of their choice. Attendees will receive the Laser
Cutter and Dremel DigiLab LC40 badges in Beanstack upon completion of orientation. Registration is required and space is limited.
Pokémon Club
Grades 3 to 12, bring your binders and come play Pokémon. Game mats and a limited number of
gaming packs will be available. Parents must sign a permission slip to allow their children to
trade cards. Tuesday, September 22, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
Book sale
The Friends of the Maud Marks Library will hold their November book sale on Saturday,
September 26, from 10 a.m. until 4 p.m. There is a large selection of hardback fiction and
nonfiction, as well as children’s books, paperbacks and other hidden gems. We will also be
hosting a Friends Members-Only preview on Friday, September 25, from 4 to 5:30 p.m. All
items sell for rock bottom prices.
3D Printer Orientation
This orientation session on Monday, September 28, from 6 to 8 p.m. will instruct participants on
how to use the 3D printer in the library. Those completing the class will then be able to schedule
time to use the 3D printers at HCPL branches and MakerCentral, at which time they will
complete a short machine-specific orientation at the location of their choice. Attendees will
receive the 3D Printer and Dremel DigiLab 3D45 badges in Beanstack upon completion of

Spooky Recycle Crafts for Teens and Tweens
Teens and Tweens. it’s almost spooky season! Using paint, glue guns, and whatever random
recyclables we have on hand, let’s create totally unique Halloween decor! Tuesday, September
29, 4:30 to 5:30 p.m.
