Next-gen pilots gear up for ‘Mission Time Warp Drone Competition 2025’

Harmony Public Schools Houston North District welcomed 42 teams, educators, and community members to the Fall 2025 Aerial Drone Competition on November 15 at Harmony School of Excellence–Katy Middle High School, located at 6300 Peek Road, Katy.

This year marks the ninth Aerial Drone Competition hosted by Harmony Public Schools Houston North District, and the fifth consecutive year the district has participated in this dynamic national program. The event celebrates innovation, teamwork, and STEM excellence as students pilot drones through challenging courses that test their skills in precision, collaboration, and strategy, a spokesperson for the charter school system said in a November 12 press release.

“The Aerial Drone Competition inspires our students to push the boundaries of what’s possible,” said Yilmaz Kahraman, district STEM coach.. “Each year, we see their creativity and problem-solving skills soar to new heights.”

The Robotics Education & Competition Foundation (RECF) is a global organization dedicated to increasing student engagement in science, technology, engineering, math, and computer science (STEM) by engaging students in hands-on, curriculum-based robotics and drone programs. Through comprehensive programs encompassing competitions, education, and workforce readiness, the foundation empowers educators to inspire and equip students for success. The REC Foundation strives to create a future where every student designs and innovates as part of a team, overcomes failure, perseveres, and emerges confident in their ability to meet global challenges. Through sustainable and affordable curriculum-based robotics programs, the REC Foundation inspires students, one robot at a time.

“The Robotics Education & Competition Foundation is proud to receive support from esteemed organizations such as NASA and the Department of Defense (DoD) STEM,” the press release said. The Aerial Drone Competition features Robolink’s CoDrone EDU, a versatile and programmable drone tailored for educational use.

Harmony's curriculum places a heavy focus on STEM skills, Character Education, project-based learning, and college readiness. The system has a 98 percent graduation rate for its high school seniors and 100 percent college acceptance rate among its graduating seniors.
