Nikubol brings Japanese grill bowls – and a universe of characters – to Katy Asian Town

Nikubol is now open in Katy Asian Town, bringing a young and growing Japanese grilled donburi concept specializing in freshly prepared rice bowls. Each bowl features meat grilled to order and served over hot rice. Customers can also choose from approximately 15 side dishes and enjoy soup and salad, creating a meal that is customizable, satisfying, and convenient.

The restaurant’s signature items include freshly grilled premium beef, The OG Chicken, short rib bowls, and several special flavors of takoyaki. Customers can personalize their meals with a wide selection of side dishes, making every visit a little different.

The restaurant is located at Katy Asian Town at 23015 Colonial Pkwy, Suite A105 in Katy.

Nikubol’s first location opened inside POST Houston, one of the busiest food halls in Texas and the opening of the Katy location marks another important step in Nikubol’s growth. Nikubol is currently welcoming customers at its Katy location but is also planning a large grand opening celebration in October.

“We saw an opportunity to offer the Katy community a convenient and affordable Japanese dining option centered around freshly grilled meat and customizable meals,” said owner Wing Tsang. “Many customers want food that is prepared fresh but can still be served quickly, especially during lunch or after school and work. Katy’s diverse and rapidly growing population also makes it an ideal place for a concept like Nikubol. We want to create a welcoming restaurant where customers can enjoy a hot, freshly prepared meal at a reasonable price.”

And according to the restaurant’s website at nikubol.com, Nikubol is more than a bowl brand. “From mascot collectibles and sticker drops to limited character goods, we are building a playful brand world around Japanese grill bowls, sumo energy, and food culture,” according to the website.

Tsang also said that the restaurant’s goal is to work with nearby schools, apartment communities, and local organizations on student lunch benefits, community promotions, and future events. “Our goal is not simply to operate a restaurant, but to become a dependable neighborhood business and an active part of the Katy community,” Tsang said.

“We hope to introduce more local residents, students, families, and workers to our style of freshly prepared Japanese comfort food,” said Tsang. “Additional Nikubol locations are also on the way, so stay tuned.”
