Ochoa Energy Storage awards $3,500 to support local families in Q3 community giving campaign

On October 29, Ochoa Energy Storage announced the recipients of its Q3 2025 Community Giving Campaign, demonstrating the company’s ongoing commitment to supporting local families and entrepreneurs.

This quarter, Ochoa Energy Storage awarded $2,000.00 to the Ballard House, which provides no cost temporary housing for patients and their families traveling to the Katy area for treatment of a life-threatening illness. The Ballard House, located at 21421 Cinco Park Road in Katy, alleviates financial and emotional stress in a comforting and safe environment that supports recovery and enhances the emotional well-being of patients and their caregivers.

“For families facing a medical crisis, having a safe place to stay lifts a tremendous weight off their shoulders,” said David Brown, Executive Director at The Ballard House. “This grant ensures more patients and caregivers can focus on healing, not housing, during one of the most difficult times of their lives.”

Lemonade Day provides hands-on experience for young people to learn how to start, own, and operate their own business — a lemonade stand. The program received $1500.00 to support teaching local children critical life skills such as goal setting, decision making, and financial literacy. This year, Lemonade Day expects to engage a total of 100 youth in Katy.

“Lemonade Day gives Katy’s youth the chance to discover what they’re capable of—whether it’s setting goals, managing money, or leading with confidence,” said Elizabeth Ramasamy, Chief Executive Officer of Lemonade Day. “This support from Ochoa Energy Storage means more children will gain skills that last far beyond their first lemonade stand.”

Ochoa Energy Storage is a proposed Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project that will bring up to 500-megawatts of sustainable, reliable energy to support the Texas grid. This project will be located in Katy on less than 10 acres of privately owned land, directly next to an electrical substation and a major electrical corridor serving the residents of the Katy area.

“By supporting organizations that provide comfort in times of crisis and build skills for the next generation, this program reflects our commitment to being a good neighbor and investing in what matters most to the community,” said Mona Schwartz, Community Affairs Manager at Ochoa Energy Storage.

The Ochoa Energy Storage Community Giving Program is open to organizations working to positively impact the Katy area. The next round of applications can be submitted by visiting www.ochoaenergystorage.com/community-giving-application. The deadline is November 15, 2025.
