The Katy Wine Fest has historically been hosted by the Cinco Ranch Rotary. The Wine Fest began in 2006 because the Rotary needed a fall fundraiser, and it was initially held in downtown Katy. The first Katy Wine Fest featured six wineries from the Hill Country area, a grape stomp, and a silent auction. It was the only wine tasting fundraiser in the Katy area at the time and was a fun way to give back to the community, organizers told the Katy Times. In early 2025, the Cinco Ranch Rotary merged with the Brazos River Rotary, which now hosts the event.
The primary beneficiary of the Katy Wine Fest has been The Brookwood Community, to which Rotary has donated $260,000 in scholarship assistance, mentorship, and vital operational support. Because of the Rotary’s support, more than 470 organizations and individuals have toured Brookwood or participated in its Center for Learning programs, including conferences, internships, one-on-one mentoring, webinars, online courses, and educational seminars. Collectively, these organizations now serve more than 375,000 individuals with disabilities in 38 states and 18 countries—impacting every continent except Antarctica.
