Seven Lakes earned a spot in this years Class 6A Texas Basketball Coaches Association girls preseason poll, being ranked in the top 25 after a strong year last season.
The Spartans were ranked No. 22 overall, coming in as the top and only team from Katy ISD in the rankings. They come off a year where they went 30-9 overall, went 14-2 in district to split a District 19-6A title. They went on to make it four rounds deep in the playoffs, making it to the regional tournament for the second time in three years before losing a heartbreaker to Summer Creek, which went on to make it to the state semifinals.
The Spartans lose arguably their two best players from last season in Justice Carlton and Shreya Jategaonkar, but bring back lots of talented pieces, including Madison Carlton, Gracie Hobin and Dulce Franco. The Spartans open the season against Langham Creek and will play another very strong team in their first district test in Cinco Ranch, towards the end of November.
The Spartans are the eighth highest ranked team in the Houston area, Duncanville took top honors in the poll claiming a state title last season.
