Tacodeli, the Texas-based, award-winning taqueria created by chef/founder Roberto Espinosa, announced April 15 that it plans to open its third Houston-area location, and 16th in Texas, in Katy at 19302 Katy Freeway Ste. The restaurant is expected to debut Monday, May 18, 2026.

Ahead of the opening, Tacodeli will host a multi-weekend taco giveaway, inviting the Katy community to get an early taste of its signature, made-from-scratch breakfast tacos. Beginning at 7 a.m. each Saturday and Sunday now through May 10, guests visiting the Katy location will receive up to two free tacos per person, available while supplies last. Tacodeli will prepare approximately 200 tacos per day as part of the promotion, totaling at least 1,600 tacos served throughout the celebratory series.

To mark the official opening on May 18, Tacodeli will also reward its earliest fans: the first 25 guests in line when doors open will receive free tacos for a year (up to two tacos per week, redeemable at any Tacodeli location excluding the Austin airport outpost).

“As I’ve said many times, two of my favorite things are people and people that eat tacos,” Espinosa stated. “We’re excited to bring that spirit to Katy and introduce our food to even more Texans in a way that feels welcoming, generous and true to who we are.”

Tacodeli is bringing its signature blend of Mexican-inspired flavors to one of the region’s fastest-growing communities. Since the last Houston opening in 2024, the brand has introduced several new offerings designed to enhance the guest experience, including rotating daily taco specials available exclusively one day per week, as well as convenient “grab-and-go” tacos near the register featuring their top selling ready-made breakfast tacos, which includes the highly popular bacon, egg and cheese taco.

The Katy opening marks another milestone for Tacodeli, which has spent more than 25 years building a loyal following across Texas around its vibrant menu of breakfast, lunch and dinner tacos, bowls, salads, soups, chips, queso, guacamole and its award-winning salsas, including the beloved Salsa Doña.

The 2,400 square-foot Katy location will feature a thoughtfully designed dining room with seating for approximately 40 guests, complemented by an outdoor patio spanning 500 square feet with seating for an additional 40. The space will reflect Tacodeli’s signature aesthetic, blending elements of its Mexico City heritage with its Texas roots through natural materials, warm textures and vibrant design details.
