Katy native and Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) fashion student,\ Arya Shah has recently been named as a recipient of the ultra-competitive Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF).
Selected from more than 500 students across 90 universities, Shah was one of few selected recipients to receive an FSF Scholarship, which includes a $10,000 award. She is pursuing a bachelor of fine arts degree in fashion design. She graduated from Tompkins High School in 2021 and grew up in Cinco Ranch. Outside of fashion, she loves reading, baking, and painting, anything that allows her to express herself in new ways.
Shah was among six recipients of the Virgil Abloh Post-Modern Scholars award. Created to foster equity and inclusion within the industry, the fund supports the next generation of Black fashion leaders by providing scholarships to students of academic promise. These students each receive a $10,000 scholarship and gain access to career-focused support, internship opportunities and mentorship from industry leaders.
The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) selected 20 talented students from the university’s prestigious School of Fashion and De Sole School of Business Innovation as recipients in the 2026 Fashion Scholarship Fund (FSF) program. This achievement marks a new university record, surpassing last year's historic 18 wins and securing SCAD's position as the university with the most scholarship recipients in the country for the FSF Class of 2026.
SCAD is a private, nonprofit, accredited university, offering 100 graduate and undergraduate degree programs across locations in Atlanta and Savannah, Georgia; Lacoste, France; and online via SCADnow. SCAD enrolls approximately 18,500 undergraduate and graduate students from more than 100 countries. SCAD offers one of the most elite, connected, and comprehensive fashion programs in the world, with undergraduate and graduate degrees in fashion design, accessory design, fashion marketing and management, fibers, jewelry, and sneaker design. The university also offers top-ranked programs within SCAD’s pioneering De Sole School of Business Innovation, including business of beauty and fragrance, advertising and branding, design management, creative business leadership, and luxury and brand management.
Founded in 1937, the FSF is the foremost fashion-oriented nonprofit in the U.S. to assist with education and workforce development, awarding more than $1 million each year in scholarships. FSF provides scholars with intensive mentorship, industry networking, internship and career opportunities, professional development, and direct access to the world’s top companies and most influential leaders in fashion and related business sectors. Since 2019, SCAD students have earned more than 90 scholarships from the FSF, totaling over $1.2 million.
