Continuing a 30-year tradition, business partners and community members across Katy came together throughout November to bring the joy and value of reading into elementary campuses across the district. The annual Promise to Read program, led by Katy ISD Partners in Education, opens the door for community volunteers to ignite imaginations and model for young minds both service and leadership—simply by sharing a story.
Over the course of three weeks, 88 business and community volunteers visited 13 Katy ISD elementary campuses, reading to 204 classrooms and creating meaningful moments of connection across the district. Participating campuses included: Bethke, Golbow, Holland, Jenks, Kilpatrick, Robertson, Rylander, Schmalz, Stephens, Sundown, Williams, Wolfe, and Youngblood Elementary.
“Special thanks to all the business and community partners who dedicated their time to support Katy ISD students during the 2025 Promise to Read program,” said a KISD spokesperson in the December 2 press release. “Their commitment demonstrates the powerful and lasting impact of community engagement in our schools.”
Partners in Education opens the door to lasting school and community relationships that positively impact students and the staff who lead them. To learn more, visit Partners in Education under the “Community” tab at www.katyisd.org or contact Lauren Slovisky at laurenvslovisky@katyisd.org.
