Harris County Commissioners Court awarded a $6.6M contract on January 10 to rehabilitate four channels in the Barker Reservoir, the office of Harris County Precinct 4 Commissioner Lesley Briones said in a Facebook post that same day.
Under the 2024 “Maintenance Matters” Proposition, the project will strengthen the reservoir’s ability to manage floodwaters during major storms, precinct officials said.
“Keeping homes and families safe from flooding is a top priority,” the Precinct 4 Facebook post said.
