Katy Christian Ministries’ food pantry is not just a pantry anymore.
Last fall the local food pantry saw a sudden increase in the need of food assistance, the organization said in a March 2 post on Facebook. In November 2025 alone, KCM served over 10,000 people.
In response, KCM:
* Increased the number of community food fairs
* Expedited food applications
* Relied on the community for increase donations and food drives
KCM also met with partner organizations Houston Food Bank and United Way. After discussions, the decision was made to update the name to “Katy Food Center” which is more reflective of the organization’s increase in size and the increase in need in the entire greater Katy area.
“We are not just a little ‘pantry’ but a full-sized food center,” a spokesperson told the Katy Times.
“As the need for assistance grows, we plan to grow with it, expanding our size, services, and impact,” the organization said in a subsequent post on March 6. “Today, we are pleased to announce the launch of the Katy Food Center, reflecting our renewed commitment to continue meeting the need.”
The Katy Food Center is located at KCM’s headquarters at 3506 Porter Road in Katy.
