USA’s Top 1 percent: Six Katy ISD students earn National Merit Scholarships

Six Katy ISD seniors, representing Jordan High School, Tompkins High School and Seven Lakes High School, earned prestigious corporate-sponsored National Merit Scholarships, placing them among the nation’s most accomplished high school scholars, the district announced on April 23.

Recognized by the National Merit Scholarship Corporation, these distinguished students rank among the top high school scholars in the country, selected for their exceptional academic performance, leadership and potential for success in rigorous college studies. Fewer than one percent of high school seniors nationwide advance to this level of distinction, highlighting both their academic excellence and future career promise across fields such as medicine, engineering and business.

“These students represent the very best of Katy ISD and exemplify the academic excellence and perseverance we strive to cultivate across the district,” Chief Academic Officer Christine Caskey said. “Their achievement reflects not only their dedication, but also the strong support of our educators and families who help prepare them for success at the highest levels.”

These awards, funded by corporations and foundations, provide financial support for college and recognize students who demonstrate outstanding achievement, leadership and commitment to excellence.

Katy ISD congratulates these exceptional students for their dedication and achievement and celebrates the educators and families who have supported them along the way, a spokesperson said in the announcement.
