On May 4 six Katy isd High School Students received awards for Creative and 3-Dimensional Art Contests sponsored by VFW 9182 Auxiliary. Taking first place in the Creative Arts division and winning a $1000 scholarship is Trevor Robertson, 2nd place; Sarah Churchill placed second for a $500 scholarship, and third place, with a $250 scholarship, went to Victoria Mitra.
In the 3-Dimensional contest the first place prize and a $1000 scholarship went to Laura Paredes; second place and a $500 scholarship was won by Janet de la Tome Rueda, and third place and a $250 scholarship was earned by Aiden Ramirez.
This scholarship contest recognizes young artists and encourages patriotism in youth. Entries are judged on originality of concept, presentation and patriotism expressed, content of how it relates to patriotism and clarity of ideas, design technique, total impact of work.
To participate, students must be in grades 9-12 by the March 31 deadline and enrolled in a public, private, parochial, or home school program in the United States, its territories and possessions, or dependents of U.S. military or civilian personnel in overseas schools.
