Earlier this year, Katy Beer Garden supported the Katy Police Officers Association by donating an 11-course tasting menu with alcohol pairings for four people to the association’s annual fundraiser and live auction. The experience sold for $1,500 to Myra Jones of the Katy Heritage Society, with proceeds benefiting the association’s community programs that support local officers.
The tasting experience was hosted for Jones and her guests on August 21 as the inaugural “Chef’s Summer Tasting,” the first of many seasonal menus to come from Chef Micah Rideout, according to Steven Salazar, CEO and founder of Katy Beer Garden.
The menu was prepared by Rideout, an experienced Houston chef with a background in elevated and international cuisine, featuring a watermelon salad, a fried chicken miso soup, antipasto, a brown butter crab salad, tuna uncrustable and wagyu short ribs au poivre, among other special dishes. Beverage pairings were directed by Salazar, who also serves as beverage director of Katy Beer Garden. Service was led by maitre’d Alexandre Tolentino, a hospitality professional with experience at Katami and Kata Robata.
This multi course tasting menu is available exclusively once a month by reservation only.
“As a Katy business, we are grateful for the opportunity to give back to the organizations that protect and preserve our community,” Salazar said in an email to the Katy Times. “Supporting the men and women of the Katy Police Department and groups that care for our shared history remains an important part of how we serve our neighbors. We look forward to continuing to contribute wherever we can.”
