Katy ISD’s Partners in Education hosted an event on August 19, introducing local businesses, community organizations and community members to the many ways that they can support Katy ISD students and campuses.
But there are still many campus requests that are going unfilled, according to a September 1 email blast from the PIE department. Here are just a few:
Promise to Read
Promise to Read invites business and community partners into elementary classrooms to share the joy of reading while showing students that their community is invested in their success. Organizations can adopt a campus and rally employees to read together or spread the experience across the district by volunteering at multiple campuses. Whether you send one reader or a whole team, it’s a simple way to step into our schools and make a meaningful connection with students. Promise to Read takes place this November, and registration opens in early October.
Future Business Leaders of America
Texas Area 5 FBLA are looking for individuals and groups to give workshop presentations to high school students at their Annual Future Business Leaders of America Area 5 Fall Workshop Conference on Saturday, November 14 at Tompkins High School. They are looking for roughly 24 presenters, each one leads two 45-minute sessions on the same topic, once from 9:45 to 10:30 and again from 10:45 to 11:30, with about 25 to 30 students each round. Topics range widely, including starting a business, personal finance, marketing, leadership, public speaking, and interviewing. Contact Ridhi Rentala, Texas FBLA State Area 5 VP at 713-281-2454 or ridhirentala10@gmail.com with questions.
Beck Junior High attendance incentives
Help Beck Junior High celebrate students for showing up! The campus is seeking donations to use as attendance incentives, including certificates, no-strings-attached special offers, donated goodies, or other student-friendly rewards.
Provide safety patrol vests to Wilson Elementary
Help Wilson Elementary’s student safety patrol stand out! The campus is seeking 25 safety patrol vests for students assisting with campus safety and arrival/dismissal. Business logos may be included on the back of the vests, making this a great opportunity to support student leaders.
Treat Memorial Parkway Junior High teachers to “lunch and learn” treats
Sweeten professional learning for MPJH teachers! The campus is seeking a business partner to sponsor 50 cookies for teachers attending a Lunch & Learn. Four Lunch & Learn dates will be offered throughout the year, so partners can choose the date they’d like to sponsor.
