Following a moment of silence, Cy-Fair Fire Department Chief Amy Ramon rings the firefighters’ bell six times, commemorating specific moments that happened on the morning of September 11, 2001, from the multiple aircraft crashes in New York City, Washington, D.C., and Pennsylvania, to the fall of each of the Twin Towers in New York City. A seventh ringing of the bell was added as a “call to serve.” The ceremony was part of the Patriot Day memorial service hosted by Harris County Precinct 4 on Sept. 18 at the Weekley Community Center, 8440 Greenhouse Road in Cypress. The observance also included video interviews with area first responders who related their memories of 9/11.
