Jacob J. Walla, 93, of Katy, Texas passed away on July 26, 2026. He was born on July 12, 1933 to Jerome Walla and Lillie Bell (Koehl) Walla in La Grange, Texas. On July 29, 1961, he married Victoria “Vicki” Myers in Houston, Texas.
He graduated from La Grange High School in 1950, University of Houston in 1961 and South Texas College of Law in 1965.
Jacob had a private law practice and specialized in family law. He was the legal advisor for the K.J.T. in LaGrange, Texas for over twenty-five years.
Jacob was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus 6950 in Katy, Texas.
He loved traveling with friends and family, especially the food, music and culture of New Orleans where he worked for the Southern Pacific Railroad prior to his legal career. Papa Jake was a beloved grandfather, avid fisherman and embellished storyteller.
Jacob is survived by his daughter Laura “Laurie” Walla of Houston; son Rusty Walla and wife Shannon of Galveston; grandchildren Taylor Walla, Nathan Walla, Reagan Walla and wife Elizabeth, Matthew Walla and wife Analise, Glen Hill, and Lauren Lash; great-grandchildren Ryan “Bunny” Walla, William Walla, Rebecca Hill, and Logan Hill.
He was preceded in death by his wife Vicki Walla, parents Jerome and Lillie Bell Walla, son Joseph “Joey” Walla, and daughter Rebecca “Becky” Walla Hill.
Funeral Service will be held on Saturday, August 1, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church in Ellinger, Texas. Fr. Steve Saucer will be officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. with a rosary at 9:30 a.m.
Burial will take place in St. Mary Catholic Cemetery in Ellinger, Texas.
Pallbearers are his grandsons.
