Betty Jane Deady was born on February 17, 1922, in Gary, Indiana to Herbert Carl and Isabelle Emily Schmidt Anderson. On March 15, 1941, she married Eugene Francis “Gene” Deady in Chicago, Illinois. When her children were young, Betty was very active in the Boy Scouts, as well as the Katy Elks Lodge Ladies Auxiliary. She has lived in Katy since 1977 where she was a member of St. Bartholomew Catholic Church.
Betty Jane Deady passed away on Saturday, June 5, 2021, in Windcrest, Texas, at the age of 99.
She is survived by her children, Patricia Arends of Florida, Mary Louise Hansen of San Antonio, Michael K. Deady and his wife Elizabeth Michele of Katy, Eugene F. Deady, Jr. of Canyon Lake, and Charles John Deady and his wife Debbie of Streator, Illinois; 15 grandchildren, 25 great-grandchildren; as well as other loving family members and friends. She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters; and her husband, Gene Deady in 2005.
The family received friends from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 9, 2021, at the Schmidt Funeral Home East Avenue Chapel, in Katy, where a rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Mass will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 10, 2021, at the St. Bartholomew Catholic Church, in Katy. Interment in Katy Magnolia Cemetery.
