Seven Lakes Justice Carlton earned her second District 19-6A MVP Award in three seasons this week, being named the MVP after helping the Spartans to a district title and regional tournament appearance.

The senior surpassed 2,000 career points in the season, becoming Seven Lakes all time leading scorer and also earned honors earlier this year as a McDonalds All-American. She was joined on the superlatives list by two other members of Seven Lakes, with Madison Carlton being named the district’s Defensive MVP and Seven Lakes head coach Doug Watson being named the district’s coach of the year. Madison Carlton as a force for the Spartans all year on both sides of the ball, while Watson made a big impact in his first year as head coach with Seven Lakes achieving a 30-9 record and going 14-2 in district play.

Cinco Ranch’s Aniya Foy was named the district’s Offensive Player of the Year after helping the Cougars make the playoffs for the third straight year. The Cougars nearly pulled off the upset of Fort Bend Hightower in the first round of the playoffs, taking the Hurricanes to overtime, but came up just short.

The Newcomer of the Year Award went to Taylor senior Timya Grice. Grice had a very strong year where she helped Taylor reach the playoffs for the first time since 2019. The Mustangs finished with a 28-7 record, going 12-4 in district play and finishing third overall in district.

Tompkins led the way with three picked on the districts first team. Senior guard Gabbie Panter, junior guard Rihanna DeLeon and sophomore guard Sascha Coughran were all named to the first team after helping lead the Falcons to a co-district championship with Seven Lakes. Seven Lakes had two players named to the first team in Shreya Jategaonkar and Kimora Lopez and Taylor also had two named to the first team in Grice and Fiapaipaitufanuaitamalii Filoialii. Katy had two players named to the first team as well in Nyla Wold and Ashlynn Alexander, as Katy narrowly missed out on making the playoffs, finishing in fifth in district. The first team was rounded out by Jordan’s Carlie Lewis, Cinco Ranch’s Camille Torrence and Paetow’s Naddilee French.

Tompkins again placed the most players on the second team, with Caitlyn D’Addieco, Kate Hopkins and Haylie Panter being named, Seven Lakes had two players named to the second team in Caitlyn Quintero and Gracie Hobin and Taylor also had two players on the second team in Mia Lopez and Kara Hart. The team was rounded out with Katy’s Kaysen Miler, Mayde Creek’s Faith Idowu, Paetow’s Kelis Milam, Cinco Ranch’s Kinsley Harding and Morton Ranch’s Hollie Sylve.
