Don Edward Thomas of Katy, TX went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, April 28, 2021. He was born in Beaumont, TX on October 23, 1951, to Mary Marjorie Morrison Thomas and Otis William Thomas, Jr.

Don was a devoted husband, father, and friend. He has always had a passion for serving others around him that remained throughout his life. In his early years, he spent many days on the lake fishing with his family, especially with his dad and his brother-in-law, Robert. Eventually, he learned to scuba dive and became a certified instructor. Don volunteered many years with American Red Cross as an instructor and on the disaster relief team with his wife, Cathie. He was also a Boy Scout leader where he loved helping the kids earn badges, going camping, and canoeing to name a few. In his later years, he joined the West I-10 Fire Department as a volunteer in the Rehab Unit, then moved into the Fire Department as an EMT. Don joined the Community Volunteer Fire Department in 2014, where he received the EMS Rookie of the Year Award. Through it all, Don was an avid fan of country music and wore his cowboy boots everywhere he went.

His survivors include his wife, Catherine Thomas of Katy; his son, William Thomas of Katy; and daughter, Courtney Thomas of Katy; and sister, Janie Hopkins and husband, Robert, of Silsbee, Tx; and many friends and extended family members.

Don was preceded in death by his parents, and sister, Peggy Ann Thomas Holmes.

A memorial service to celebrate his life will take place on May 15, 2021 at Memorial Lutheran Church in Katy, TX at 1:00 PM. A gathering of family and friends will take place following the service. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Thomas family at Memorial Lutheran Church.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. 2 Timothy 4:7
