On Friday, May 7, Fort Bend County Judge KP George and the Fort Bend County Office of Homeland Security & Emergency Management along with Clear Channel Outdoor launched the 2021 Hurricane Countdown to Hurricane Season Digital Billboards.
A total of 10 digital billboards will display the countdown from the start of the hurricane season, June 1 through November 30. The billboards are part of an annual preparedness campaign that serves as a reminder for Fort Bend County residents to take proper precautions and have a hurricane preparedness checklist on hand in case of a disaster.
Clear Channel Outdoor is providing the billboards at no charge to Fort Bend County.
“Hurricane awareness and preparation can reduce the impact of hurricane disasters. I urge all of you to take action and plan accordingly to protect your families, your property, and save lives,” said KP George. “It is predicted that we will have another busy hurricane season, our weather experts estimated that 17 named storms, eight hurricanes, and four major hurricanes will develop this year.”
More information regarding how to prepare for hurricane season may be found on Fort Bend County’s Office of Emergency Management website at www.fbcoem.org.
