John D. Salter of Hockley, Texas, passed away peacefully on January 28, 2024, leaving to join the Lord after a hard-fought battle with cancer. He was born October 8, 1951, to William Howard and Mary Eades Salter in Houston, Texas.
John attended Cy-Fair High School where a shop class would lead him to a career in machining, owning Salter Precision Machining in Katy for over four decades. In addition to being devoted to his company and employees, John enjoyed drag racing where he developed many friendships over nearly 50 years.
Most of all, John was proud of his family, especially his grandchildren Ethan and Emma who lovingly referred to him as “Pops.”
John is preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Michele Grice; brother Charles Salter; son John Ryan and wife Katie of Lubbock, Texas; daughter Kristi Mungovan and husband Michael of Fulshear, Texas; grandchildren Ethan and Emma Mungovan; stepsons Michael and Anthony Barbato of Hockley, Texas; step-grandchildren Caleb, David, Caleigh, Dylan and Mia; and many other extended family members.
A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at The Bowery House and Gardens, 24902 Franz Road, Katy, Texas, 77493, on Sunday, February 25, 2024 from 2:00 PM to 4:00 PM.
