Tompkins moved up the standings by earning a big win over Cinco Ranch on Thursday, while Katy and Taylor kept their winning ways going and Mayde Creek survived a close game against Paetow.

Tompkins beats Cinco, moves up standings

Tompkins cinched a big win on Thursday, beating Cinco Ranch 13-3 and improving to 10-10 on the season and 6-4 in district play. Lex Crebrero had four RBIs in the win while Leah Gershman, Samantha Crumrin and Chloe Grigsby had two RBIs each and Peyton Ebel scored four runs. Gershman also had a strong day on the mound, pitching all five innings and allowing three runs on three hits while striking out three and walking one.

Ebel scored the first run of the game in the bottom of the first with a steal of home, but Cinco answered back to tie it in the top of the second when Faith Piper drove in a run on a single. Sydni Vandeventer gave Cinco the lead in the third on a RBI single of her own and Elle Wallace followed that up with a grounder that turned into a fielders choice, bringing the Cougars lead to two. Tompkins came right ack to tie it in the bottom of the third when Cebrero hit an a 2-run double before taking the lead on a 2-run home run from Samantha Crumrin.

Tompkins added on in the fourth. An error made it 6-3 Falcons and two more runs came around to score on an error after in the inning. Gershman hit an RBI single and Ebel hit a 2-run single in the bottom of the fifth before Grigsby came to the plate and ended the game with a 2-run double.

Piper and Wallace had Cinco’s two RBIs and Savannah Henningson pitched 4.1 innings, allowing nine earned runs on 12 hits while striking out three and walking two. Cinco Ranch fell to 8-12 overall and 5-5 in district with the loss.

Mayde Creek outlasts Paetow

Mayde Creek earned a 3-2 win over Paetow on Thursday, walking off over the Panthers and improving to 4-9 overall and 3-4 in district play. Kaitlyn Flores led the Rams at the plate with two RBIs and Shy’Lynn Brown pitched a complete game, allowing two earned runs on four hits while walking three and striking out one.

Paetow took the lead in the third inning getting a run on a bases loaded walk and a second when Lea Avila hit a sacrifice fly. Things stayed that way until the bottom of the sixth inning. Mayde Creek got its first run on a Brown RBI single and Mayde Creek took the lead for good when Flores hit another single that drove in two. Mayde Creek held on in the top of the seventh to secure the win.

Lopez and Avila had the two RBIs for Paetow and Lopez also pitched six innings, allowing three runs on three hits while striking out four and walking three. Paetow fell to 14-15 overall and 4-6 in district with the loss.

Katy run rules Morton Ranch

Katy beat Morton Ranch in three innings 15-0 in a run rule win, improving to 25-1-1 on the season and 10-0 in district in the process. Ella-Kate Smith had a big day at the plate, diving in four runs, while Maddie Smith and Brooke Fechner drove in three runs apiece. Kate Smith and Lauren Soeken also combined to pitch a complete game.

Ashyn Reichardt started the game off with a solo home run and Kate-Smith drove a double that drove in two more. Brooke Fechner then hit a sacrifice fly and Katy got two more runs on bases loaded walks before the inning ended. Kate Smith added two more runs on a double in the second and Katy scored a ninth run on an error before Maddie Smith drove in two runs with a double to make it 11-0 Katy. The Tigers scored four more runs in the fourth to clinch the run rule win.

Bailey Hays pitched three innings for Morton Ranch and allowed 10 earned runs, walking eight in the loss with Morton Ranch falling to 4-13-1 and 0-8 in district.

Taylor tops Seven Lakes

Taylor beat Seven Lakes in five innings on Thursday, getting a13-1 run rule win over the Spartans to improve to 16-9 overall and 9-1 in district play. Kaelyn Lerma led the way on offense, driving in four runs while three more players drove in two runs. Ari Hughes had a strong day on the mound, pitching five innings and allowing one run on three hits while striking out five and walking one.

Kenna Irvin started the scoring in the bottom of the second, driving in two on a triple before Lerma hit a sacrifice fly and Sophia Ybanez hit a 2-run single to make it 5-0 Taylor. Lerma drove in another in the third inning on a double and Izzy Allen hit another one-run double, the Mustangs scored an eighth run on an error before Katelyn Wentzler hit a 2-run home run. The Spartans got a run back in the fourth on a bases loaded walk by Valeria Morales, but Taylor answered back in the bottom of the inning, getting a run on a passed ball before Lerma hit a 2-run home run. The Mustangs clinched the win, not allowing a run in the bottom of the inning to close it out.

Morales had the lone RBI for Seven Lakes while Ryma Chakraborty pitched a 2.2 innings, allowing three earned runs on eight hits while striking out two and walking four. Seven Lakes fell to 4-11 and 1-8 in district.
